How to balance your life when you work from home

Warning!! Broadcast message!!

Wow I can’t believe I almost fell for this! I just assumed starting my own business and working from home would equal a better life.

After only a few weeks of balancing motherhood with working from home, I realized I was headed down the wrong path.

Quite frankly, once I started working from home, the other parts of my life went downhill

I had less time, less patience, less attention span and less joy.

The whole reason I started my business was to spend more time doing what I loved, being with my daughter. To set a good example for her and to have a better quality life without sacrificing my values and time.

I began designing my website, creating, marketing, advertising and everything else that goes into starting a business. Then, I had the same feelings as when I started. I felt stressed and I was getting irritated with the very person I said I was doing it all for!

My mind was constantly on my business. I was distracted and irritable because of all the other things I “should” be getting done.

Then I had an aha moment.

I realized that I began working from home to experience the exact opposite of everything that was happening. I wanted more time, more peace, more focus and more joy.

What the hell was I doing? This was not how I wanted my life, career or parenting to go.

It’s quite counter-intuitive to work from home if you’re going to put the same or more amount of energy and attention into your work as you would as an employee at an already successful business. Yet everyone dreams of working from home.

I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be this way!

The problem with believing the old “if you want to succeed you must give it 100%” motivational nonsense is that after you give your job 100% there is nothing left over for anything else, including yourself and that’s bad for everyone.

So, work hard 80% or even 50% of the time.

Give it whatever percentage makes you the happiest without sacrificing your values. The important thing to remember is that success isn’t measured by how large your business is or how much money you have. It is measured by how happy you are.

If you want the best of both worlds, success and happiness, then you need to stop believing success will bring happiness.

The problem with waiting to to experience joy, relaxation and quality time is that you’re waiting. You’re quite literally telling the universe to keep that all on hold for you while you.

To achieve balance with joy, success and family you must full heartedly indulge in these things along the way.

By now, you are familiar with manifesting to some degree. You may call it luck, but at the end of the day you wouldn’t have started your own business and begun working from home if you didn’t believe that eventually things would line up. That the universe would give you a big break. While this isn’t untrue, it is only 50% of the picture.

The other 50% is something you are already doing. You’re just stuck at the wrong end of it.

To live the life you dream of, you need to get into the habit of feeling.

Now, before you freak out and assume that I’m going to ask you to talk about your childhood, rest assured, I don’t want you to do that. To be honest no one does.

The feelings you to have are the fun ones!!

Joy, patience, confidence, success, abundance, gratitude and whatever else makes you feel good!

So stop working your ass off and enjoy life. Play with your kids, give yourself a break, hang out with friends, enjoy life now so you can enjoy it later as well.

You are never going to have more time to do what you love, until you make what you love a priority.

You’ll never spend more time with family, unless you deliberately make more time for family. That time won’t won’t magically appear one day if unless you prioritize it now. You’re never going to have a joyful and peaceful life, unless you commit to creating the experiences, habits and thoughts that create it. You’re never going to have patience and appreciation, until you slow down and have gratitude.

If you believe in manifesting at all, then you should be experiencing the feelings you hope to have, right this instant! Don’t wait until you are successful, or have achieved your goals to feel the way you want to. The universe responds to your emotions very quickly and if you feel an emotion for an extended period, guess what? Stress brings more stress. Busy brings more busy. Gratitude brings more to be grateful for. Joy brings more joy. You get the picture. Good or bad the universe doesn’t differentiate, to her everything is neutral, but to you it is not.

Everyone believes that success will bring happiness, but that’s just not true. The opposite is the case. Only happiness is the true measure of success. Nobody sets out to be successful and miserable. Everyone wants both.

We all know the story of the person who is very successful, but hardly sees their family or has time to enjoy life. Don’t be this person. Decide to feel and experience now, what you hope to experience in the future.

Start living the life you wish you had, now!
